Indian Monsoon Malabar AA

Indian Monsoon Malabar AA

The 'Monsooning' process, exclusive to India, has a rich history and yields a uniquely robust cup of coffee. Originating from the era of coffee farming during British colonial rule, this method emerged when the extended shipping time from India to Europe, amid high humidity and sea winds, caused the coffee beans to swell and age.

ECOM has been actively engaged with producers since 2008 through their Sustainable Management Services program. This initiative plays a crucial role in supporting and procuring some of India's finest specialty coffee.

The Baba Budan hills are a distinctive part of the Western Ghats, a sprawling 1,600km mountain range renowned for its abundant flora and fauna, recognized as a biodiversity hotspot. Notably, the town of Chikmagalur, the origin of this coffee, boasts numerous natural streams, fostering a thriving ecosystem in the area.
