Thousands of interesting and unusual machines have been created over the years for the sole purpose of roasting coffee. All of these machines leave their individual signature on the roast. We use two very unique machines, an UNO roaster from the 1940s, and a wood roaster from the 1950s. The majority of our coffe is roasted using locally sourced, sustainable, solar dried oak. Smaller batches are roasted over a direct gas flame, using the UNO.

  • FIMT Woodburning Roaster 1950s

The FIMT was built in the 1950s to run on both gas and wood. We are fortunate enough to be able to run this roaster on solar dried Cornish oak wood from a local, sustainable supply: an almost carbon-neutral coffee roasting fuel. Wood roasting creates a very distinct flavour profile.

  • UNO Roaster 1940s

Built in the 1940s, the UNO roaster was very popular throughout the UK and a very common shop roaster in its day. The roasting drum is open to the air, giving the operator a real connection to the roast. A true sight, sound, and smell experience.
